FORD MUSTANG - 1966

1966 - FORD MUSTANG FASTBACK.   " HOTTY "

1966 Shelby GT350 Tribute.

In 1965 Shelby America ordered 252 k code Fastback Mustangs, these cars were specifically ordered and would forever change the landscape of the Mustang with it instead becoming known simply as the Shelby GT350. emblazoned with the infamous Cobra logo and signature twin stripes, itself a product of Carol Shelby's battle with Ferrari, these early 1966 cars used a 289 Windsor Motor and lightweight philosophy bringing the race track to the road.                                                                                                                                                                                              In cherry red this 1966 Mustang is a no holes barred, bar brawling recreation of the raw and ready street fighter as intended by Shelby himself. The factory rear seats have been removed , lexan rear window fitted, roll cage installed and a set of dual - side exhaust applied for maximum effect. The driving experience of carbureted 4.7 litre engine is nothing short of animalistic. Squeeze the throttle, wait until until it clears it's throat, then it delivers full force of its unwieldly, untamed naturally aspirated 8 cylinder engine.                                                                                  This is a car where you are the hero, you work for everything - it isn't rewarding, it's life affirming. You emerge from the experience smelling of petrol and all the better for the experience. The sound it produces id Deep Purple turned up to 11. Each unrelenting gear change form the Tremec 5 speed continually reminds you of the comical lap sash holding you in place, itself nothing but a garnish. During acceleration you man handle each moment as the car squirms from grip, non compliant and wayward. The steering is far from direct, only adding to the feeling that you are controlling and explosion waiting to go off. You get the feeling that what happens next isn't completely up to you - it's like a shot of adrenaline.                                            They say don't meet your hero's. With its Shelby roots and racing pedigree this isnt a car that makes any sense what so ever on the road. However when you do venture on the street the sensory overload makes you grin stupidly and everyone wants to meet you. It's from a time when sex was safe and motorsport was dangerous.                                                                           This is loud, raw, raucous rock and roll. A perfect 10.
